Eastwood Trip

It's been quite a while since we visited Eastwood, being that the parking in the area is not "lowered- friendly".

Incidentally, we were in the area last Tuesday, and since the car that we brought is not lowered, we decided to have lunch at Eastwood.

There are two places that I've been wanting to try here, Costa Coffee and Sisig Society. Talk about hitting two birds with one stone. :D

We first visited Costa Coffee to experience the famous UK coffee. Of course, I had to try their signature Flat White (Php 150), while hubby got the Belgian Chocolate Cream Frostino in Massimo (Php 185)

I took a sip of the Flat White and I was "wowed" on how smooth it was! I like my coffee strong and smooth, and the Flat White delivered the perfect cup. You can really taste the bitterness of the coffee, but it wasn't overpowering and was toned down a bit by the ratio of the milk added.

The Belgian Chocolate Cream was not my thing. Hubby also said that it was just so-so. I found it odd-tasting as compared against our favorite Iced Belgian Milk Chocolate from Blenz.

I didn't get to try the pastries since we were going to lunch after our morning brew.

The interior of the place was simple and aired a homey feel.

Will be going back to give their other drinks and pastries a try.

Next Stop: LUNCH!

I first heard about Sisig Society from a friend of ours, and after researching, I found out that the thing that sets them apart from other sisig restaurants is that offer semi-customizeable sisig, other than their own unique signature mix.

I am a huge fan of sisig, and I 've already had a mix of good and not so good to disappointing versions. So here's what we had:

One Solo order (Php 159) each of Crispy Sisig and Bacon & Cheese, both with pork as the meat. You're given a choice of either rice or nachos. I got rice and he opted for nachos.

The Crispy Sisig (on top) was served first, and we were quite disappointed with the serving size... Next was the Bacon & Cheese sisig (on bottom), wherein you could see the bits of bacon mixed in the pork sisig.

There was nothing special with the Crunchy Sisig, it tasted like ordinary so-so sisigs. As for the Bacon & Cheese sisig, it had a smokey aroma brought about by the bacon. However, it had the taste of tinapa, which I found to be quite confusing as I am sure that the meat was pork. Oh, and I could not find a taste of cheese in my order.

Truth be told, we prefer Sisig Hooray a lot more than their version...it was a sad day for sisig...

That's it for our short visit to Eastwood. Will probably be a while before we return to the area. :)

ZARKS!!

Another one of our go-to burger places would be Zarks. This place is a certified burger haven!

They have a lot of crazy and “heart-stopping” burger creations.

One of their bestsellers is something that they call “The Jawbreaker”, which is a triple cheeseburger with spam, bacon and overflowing cheese sauce. In a heartbeat, Kyle ordered this, while I got the Deep Fried Bacon Wrapped Burger.

The Jawbreaker was a monster! It's quite messy to eat because of its size, but a delight in every bite!

The patties were really juicy and well-seasoned. The only catch is you have to eat it a bit fast since it forms a lot of grease when it gets cold. But don't worry, you could also ask them to reheat the burger if it gets cold.

Warning: BACON OVERLOAD!

Deep fried, crunchy bacon strips, engulfing the tender and juicy burger sandwich. My only wish was that there was cheese inside, but , all is good.

I think I've had enough bacon for one day! :p

Moving Moments at MOMO Cafe

When I still worked in Makati, I would do night runs around the Ayala Triangle. I would often see the restaurants here being fully occupied with customers still waiting to be seated.

For my colleague’s despedida, he treated us for lunch at MOMO Cafe. MOMO Cafe is a fancy looking restaurant and has a very light and fun atmosphere. We were immediately assisted when we asked for an indoor table for four.

Since it was our first time in this restaurant, we ended up ordering based solely on what sounded good on their menu. We ended up ordering their Creamy Crabby Seafood "Casserole" Rice, Baked Fish Enchilada and the Really Big "Swedish" Meatballs, all for sharing.

After our orders were taken, we were served with complimentary bread and chunky cheese pimiento spread. The bread had a nice crunch to it, as for the cheese spread, it was eerily similar with Cheez Whiz's version.

The three dishes we ordered were served at the same time.

Seafood Casserole

The Creamy Crabby Seafood Casserole (Php 395) was served piping hot, you could still see the cream and the cheese bubbling. For garnish it had a slice of lemon and a piece of mussel still on its shell. Bits of crab meat, bacon, carrots and green peas were very evident on this dish. I scooped a generous amount on my plate and got ready for my first serving.

It was like love at first bite! The rice was really creamy and had that wonderful mix of milky and savory flavors. The seafood, bacon and veggies added texture to it and blended its own flavors with every bite. I literally could not stop eating this! I would have been able to finish this dish on my own if I didn't have to share :p.

Enchilada

The Baked Fish Enchilada (Php 325) was served with what they call Party Rice and Romaine Salsa, together with a slice of lime. It was lavishly topped with melted cheese. I tried a small portion and the Mexican flavor of the dish was a bit overwhelming for me. I had another bite, but this time, I squeezed some lime over it. Voila! The small amount of citrus tamed the boldness of the flavor of the enchilada. The fish tender wrapped inside the tortilla was very soft and moist as well.

Meatball

The last dish I tried was the Really Big Swedish Meatballs (Php 350). Three medium sized meatballs, on top of a bed of mashed potatoes, drowned in gravy and topped with roasted mushrooms and green peas. The meatballs had a cajun flavor. I wasn't really that fond of this dish.

I would definitely come back for the seafood casserole and to try their other dishes.
